NOV 05, 2004 (newstodate): Lithuanian forwarder BFS, IATA agent since April, 2002, is not seeing much problems with GSAs in the market.
-We hear about it, but it has been no major problem for us, says Lauras Lukosius, BFS managing director.
-It may of course create a conflict when a GSA is also a forwarder, and in a small market everybody is figting hard to fetch the orders. This is of course different in the major markets of Europe, he says.
-We deal quite extensively with SAS Cargo, having actually been named Best Lithuanian Agent a few times by the company. SAS Cargo sales have now been entrusted to AAS, but we have had no problems so far.
-As for Lufthansa Cargo I would rather say that they have done little to contact us. We do not seem to be of any interest to them while I would otherwise find it only natural that airlines and their GSA contact forwarders to induce them to do business with them. Not so with Lufthansa Cargo, so we have no bad experience there either.
-Besides we do much business with Lithuanian Airlines, and now also with airBaltic, and this seems also to work flawlessly.
-So I am not saying there is no problem. Only we have not experienced this ourselves, says Lauras Lukosius.
