NOV 26, 2004 (newstodate): By spring, 2005, work will start on a new cargo handling terminal at Gothenburg Landvetter Airport, Sweden.
The new 7-9,000 sq m cargo terminal is planned to start operations from June, 2006.
The joint venture between Swedish CAA and Airis, NAP, is responsible for the financing and building process, and the facilities will then be let to tenants.
-It is still not decided if the new terminal will be coupled to the existing one, or be built on a stand-alone basis, says Bjorn Lennartz, Gothenburg Airport marketing manager.
-In 2004 we expect to handle a total of 130,000 tonnes, up more than 30 percent, and the volume is evenly spread between flown and trucked cargo, he says.
The airport has 15 weekly Boeing 747 and MD-11 freighter operations in addition to DHL and TNT freighter traffic.
