NOV 16, 2004 (newstodate): Air cargo volumes at Faroe Islands airport Vagar continue to rise in 2004.
During the period Januar-October Vagar generated a total of 339.4 tonnes of air cargo, up 9.9 percent over last year, while mail was down by 5.9 percent to 465.5 tonnes.
From November, Atlantic Airways is alone in serving the market with air transportation, but the Danish company DAT has applied for taking over the Faroe Islands' second concesssion after Maersk Air that has pulled out from the scenes.
The local government has agreed to the application that is now at the desk of the Danish Ministry of Transportation for final approval, still pending.
