NOV 30, 2004 (newstodate): Aeroflot now expect year-end results to show a 30 percent increase in tonnages, and a 50 percent growth in revenues.
Aeroflot also expects revenues from air cargo, at more than 100 million US dollars, to overtake revenues from passenger traffic, at about 88 million US dollars.
The very positive cargo results are, says Aeroflot, mainly due to optimization of its four DC-10-40 freighters that have lifted about 57,000 tons, while airfreight in passenger aircraft belly holds will total some 84,000 tons.
The airline has also seen great success from its contracts with Schenker, Nippon Express, Panalpina, and DHL Danzas.
In Germany a new joint venture, Transnautic, was established, specializing in freight carriage sales. This joint venture now controls 70 percent of the market from Germany to Russia, Aeroflot says.
