OCT 08, 2004 (newstodate): The Croatian government plans to privatise Zagreb Airport by the second half of next year, industry sources say.
-The state of Croatia cannot provide money for reconstruction of Zagreb Airport. We must therefore look for a strategic partner through privatization, says Pero Bilas, assistant to the Croatian minister of transportation.
By construction of the most modern infrastructure and technologies within the
frame of a Master Plan, Zagreb Airport hopes to become a regional hub for air traffic.
At the same time, Zagreb Airport is also reportedly establishing co-operation with companies from the Far East and North America by means of new marketing strategies.
A new passenger terminal, the enhancement of capacity for handling aircraft, passengers and cargo, technical equipment, and the integrated quality system of Zagreb Airport, Ltd. are hoped to boost the position of Zagreb Airport.
