OCT 18, 2004 (newstodate): In Iceland, a new company, Avion Group will offically be launched at the end of the year.
The new conglomerate will comprise Air Atlanta Icelandic, Icebird Airlines, and Excel Airways in the UK that is currently in the process of being taken over by Air Atlanta.
With a combined workforce at 3,200 staff, it will become Iceland's largest with an annual turnover at one billion USD.
As part of the new plan, Air Atlanta Icelandic and Islandflug Icebird Airlines will be consolidated as one company from the end of this year, creating the world's largest ACMI provider with a fleet of Boeing and Airbus passenger aircraft and freighters.
