OCT 22, 2004 (newstodate): SAS will wet-lease a Boeing 767-300ER from star Alliance partner United airlines for the period October 30, 2004 to March 26, 2005.
The lease arrangement will allow SAS to increase frequencies from three to five weekly flights on its route from Copenhagen to Shanghai and operate as well as operating daily flights to New York from Copenhagen and Stockholm.
The Boeing 767 will enter operations on SAS' daily routes to Washington in a code-share agreement with United, freeing Airbus A340-400 capacity.
-The Washington route is operated on SAS traffic rights, and we will definitely fly it ourselves when our capacity situation is back to normal, says Kerstin Edenby-Stross, Scandinavian Airlines International.
The temporary shortage of Airbus capacity of SAS is due to ongoing maintenance work and installation of new internet facilities on the aircraft, to be operative from February, 2005.
