OCT 08, 2004 (newstodate): On October 7, Turkmenistan has inaugurated a new airport.
The new airport is positioned at the city of Balkanabat, the administrative center of the western region of the country.
The new airport facility was built for Turkmen aviation by Turkish company Seje Inshaat we Tijaret A.S., and the runway was constructed by the U.A.E company Decolight Trading Ltd.
The runway will allow operations for aircraft up to 150 tonnes MTOW.
