OCT 19, 2004 (newstodate): -Air Atlanta Icelandic and Islandsflug will retain their individual business concepts and identities, and there will be no merger, Hafthor Hafsteinsson, Air Atlanta Icelandic CEO and co-owner, told newstodate one year ago.
The two ACMI companies are now to be merged from January 1, 2005, as part of the creation of Avion, reported yesterday.
-The merger was not decided on until recently as a result of the cooperation since last year between the two companies, and studies made by internal working groups in both companies for the last six months on what would be the maximum benefits of synergies between the two companies, Mr Hafsteinsson says.
-The experience gained and the studies clearly demonstrated that merging the two companies into one would be the best solution to reap these benefits, he says.
