OCT 29, 2004 (newstodate): Finlands CAA has completed the implementation of its new ATC system, Eurocat, at the Southern Finland Air Navigation Centre.
Eurocat, delivered by Thales, will provide extra capacity for air navigation systems needed for air traffic growth, and will modernise equipment systems in line with general European developments whilst providing air traffic controllers with new safety and IT systems.
While Eurocat became opeational from October 23, air traffic will be regulated during the first few weeks of operation for safety reasons.
