OCT 26, 2004 (newstodate): In waiting for the final decisions and the outcome of the sale-off of Bulgaria's national airline Bulgaria Air, major changes are seen in the Bulgarian aviation scene.
Thus the owners of Hemus Air have taken over all shares in Viaggio Air while announcing that no merger of the companies is envisaged.
Behind Hemus Air is a Bulgarian investment group, and the strenghening of this group's role in Bulgarian aviation may be seen as a response to the state's decision not to allow non-airline participants in the forthcoming tender unless fewer than three aviation parties participate in the bidding.
Hemus Air operates two ATR 42-300 aircraft on routes to Vienna, Istanbul, Kiev and Athens, and the aircraft fleet of Viaggio Air comprises two BAE 146-200, three TU-154M, six TU-134A, seven YK-40 and one LET-410 operating routes to Norway, Cyprus, Libya, Greece, Lebanon, Dubai, Germany, Macedonia, Romania, Albania and Slovakia.
