JAN 23, 2004 (newstodate): Ukraine has added fresh material to support its appeal to the Federal Court of Canada that is to decide on the fate of the "jailed" Ukrainian An-124 Ruslan.
The outcome of the appeal to free the aircraft that has been held in Canada since June 26, 2003 remains unsettled. It is now clear, however, that if the aircraft is not set free to fly away it will be scrapped as no other airline but its operator has the know-how and certification to fly it.
The issue at stake is an alleged debt of USD 62 million.
