JAN 13, 2004 (newstodate): In 2003, SN Brussels Airlines saw cargo's contribution to total revenues up from 1.9 percent in 2002 to 3.9 percent, corresponding to EUR 21 million.
-The airline has only two persons in the cargo department at Brussels as we have entrusted our GSA, ECS with sales of our cargo capacity on all routes from Brussels, says Geert Sciot, SN Brussels VP communication.
-For historical reasons, we are strong in the African markets, so sales of cargo from our 14 destinations in Africa into Brussels on flights with our Airbus A330-300 aircraft remains, however, in the hands of our own sales organisation, he says.
According to Mr Sciot, SN Brussels Airlines sees increasing volumes of transfer cargo from Africa via Brussels to destinations in former Eastern Europe including Warsaw, Prague, Budapest, Kiev, Vilnius and Zagreb, to be increased later this yeaer with flights to St PEtersburg and Moscow.
