JAN 09, 2003 (newstodate): Swedish airport Orebro saw a large number of air cargo charter operations in 2003.
-The airport generated a total of 325 charter operations in 2003, which indicates a strong development, says Haakan Nilsson, Orebro Airport cargo manager.
-The charter traffic with aircraft ranging from AN-12 and IL-76 to AN-123 was driven mainly by the automotive and electronic communication industries, primarily Volvo and Ericsson, he says.
Also relief charter operations were quite frequent, he says.
Orebro Airport, which is also served by TNT, did however see a decline in total cargo volumes during the period January-November, 2003, when airfreight dropped by 28.7 percent compared to 2003, to 5,442 tonnes.
