JAN 21, 2004 (newstodate): Hungarian regional airport Sarmellek Airport, a former Soviet military air base, is being targetted by an Irish investment group.
Plans are to develop the airport as part of a scheme for increased tourism into the Lake Balaton region.
The Irish group may also take over the current airport operator, Zalavar-Sarmellik Airport that runs the airport in cooperation with Malev.
The airport has a 2.500 metre runway and is used by charter airlines bringing passengers in from Germany, Switzerland, and Russia.
