JAN 23, 2004 (newstodate): Tatarstan's Gorbunov Kazan Aviation Production Works has started to participate in the building of the new Russian airliner, Tu-334.
Tu-334 that is poised to become the successor of the ageing but still widely used Tu-124 will be a medium-range aircraft, flying up to 3,150 km with 102 passengers at a cruise speed of 820 km/h.
The Tatarstan aircraft industry is already participating in building the Tu-214.
The other three parties behind the Tu-334 are Ulyanovsk Joint Stock Company Aviastar, Taganrog aircraft plant Tavia, and the Kiev enterprise Aviant.
