JAN 16, 2004 (newstodate): With a first flight on January 15, Coyne Airways has launched regular twice-weekly flights into Baghdad.
-The flights are operated with IL-76 or AN-12 freighters taking advantage of our flexible operating capability to match aircraft types and frequencies on the route to meet the capacity requirements of our customers, says Jon Southgate, Coyne Airways business development manager.
Based on existing interline services, Coyne will able to move cargo bound for Iraq on a single air waybill from Europe, the United States and Asia.
The new regular services into Baghdad will initially focus on flights originating from Dubai, and terminate at Baghdad International Airport.
Coyne Airways does, however, expect demand to increase from other origin points to further destinations in Iraq.
DNATA has been contracted to handle Coyne Airways' flights in Dubai. Coyne has also appointed a GHA in Baghdad to provide secure warehousing and trucking to further points in Iraq
