JAN 08, 2004 (newstodate): From the end of May, Austrian Airlines will add the Slovakian airport at Bratislava as a "mini-hub" to enhance services to its neighbouring market.
-Austrian Airlines will position one Boeing 737 aircraft at Bratislava, some 50 km from Vienna, and provide once-daily flights to Brussels, London, and Paris, says Johann Jurceka, Austrian Airlines press spokesman.
-Bratislave is clearly within our core catchment area, and we attract many regular passengers from the are already. With a direct operation we aim at enhancing service to existing customers, and to attract new volumes in the same process, he says.
According to Mr Jurceka, passengers travelling out of Bratislava on Austrian's daily, nonstop flights can use the airline's several daily flights from these destinations on their return trip to Vienna on the same ticket, increasing the options for flexible traveling.
-Austrian will also utilise the cargo capacity on the flights out of Bratislava for increased sales in the Slovakian market, sayd Mr Jurceka.
Austrian now operates from Vienna to 34 destinations in Central and former East Europe and the CIS states.
