JAN 23, 2004 (newstodate): In 2003, LOT Polish Airlines lifted a total of 23.3 tonnes of air cargo on their route from Warsaw to Russia's Baltic enclave, Kaliningrad.
From Kaliningrad to Warsaw, the airline now transports some 1,500 kg of air cargo per month.
During the period from mid of May, 2002, till September, 2003, LOT was the only western airline to operate at Kaliningrad after SAS stopped its operations from Copenhagen on October 26, 2001.
In 2001, Kaliningrad's air cargo exports on SAS aircraft accrued to a total of 8,317 kg, while imports were 39,830 kg.
Since September, 2003, Danish Air Transport has been operating a route from Copenhagen into Kaliningrad, but the Beechcraft 1900 aircraft has not lifted any significant volume of air cargo.
