SEP 26, 2003 (newstodate): The US Trade and Development Agency has agreed to financing a feasibility study to modernise the Belgrade Airport and build accompanying infrastructure facilities.
The total value of the airport modernisation project is estimated at between 500 and 600 million euro.
The agreement stipulates the construction of a regional cargo warehouse, modern hotels and a logistic distribution centre, which will be financed mainly from foreign investment.
The total value of the feasibility study for Airport Belgrade, called "Gate of Serbia" is 480,000 US dollars, of which USTDA will secure 80 percent, while the remaining 20 percent will be provided by other foreign companies.
In July, the Spanish government promised to grant a 50 million euro loan, of which 10 million were earmarked for the modernisation of Belgrade Airport.
