SEP 1, 2003 (newstodate): According to Russian reports, the planned tender for managing Moscow's Sheremetyevo international airport may be postponed.
The Russian National Reserve Bank, which owns 30 percent of the airport's shares, has asked for the tender to be delayed till at least spring next year rather than be announced before the end of 2003, as planned.
The Bank argues that rather than taking in foreign investors, the government, the airport's authorities and Aeroflot might go it alone and carry the investments in the airport's much-needed upgrading projects.
