SEP 18, 2003 (newstodate): US-based Sensitech, a global leader in cold chain information and analysis and Swedish company Envirotainer, provider of active temperature-controlled air transportation solutions, have agreed to form an alliance to develop advanced cold chain solutions for air transport of pharmaceuticals and other perishable goods.
Together, they will develop and provide information-based systems to manage distribution cost and speed product release while enhancing control and record keeping of cold chain processes.
The new alliance is expected to have an immediate impact on the pharmaceuticals industry, since both Sensitech and Envirotainer serve the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world.
Cold chain management is, however, critical to a wide range of other industries including meat, seafood, produce, dairy products, floral, semiconductors and specialty chemicals, significantly enlarging the market for the products of the participating companies.
