SEP 23, 2003 (newstodate): The cargo handling situation at Copenhagen Airport, now monopolized by SAS Cargo, is expected to change "sooner than most people expect", according to a senior airport official.
-Since the acquisition by SAS Cargo of former cargo handling company, Novia's terminal at Copenhagen Airport, SAS has been the sole provider of cargo handling services. This is not an optimal situation, says Lars Korup, Copenhagen Airport manager cargo marketing.
While not disclosing any details, Korup confirms that negotiations are underway with a new handling agent, and the re-introduction of competition in this business will probably be announced "sooner than most people expect".
