SEP 02, 2003 (newstodate): For the period January-July, Swedish airport Malmo Sturup's cargo growth was soaring by 127 percent, to 13,169 tonnes.
In July, the volume was up by 70.7 percent, and the month before by 39.7 percent, year-on-year.
Behind the success is the integrator traffic dominated by UPS that moved its Oeresund region cargo operations to the airport in early spring last year.
UPS now operates a daily Boeing 757 freighter from Cologne to Oslo via Malmo each morning, and an Airbus A300 freighter from Cologne to Helsinki, both aircraft returning via Malmo in the evening on the flights back to Colgne.
UPS also operates one ATP freighter each day between Aarhus, Denmark, and Malmo.
IN addition, TNT operates a BAe 146 freighter from Liege to Orebro via Malmo and back again, and a Lockheed Electra freighter between Malmo and Liege.
