SEP 04, 2003 (newstodate): Due to the closure of Basra Airport on the planned date of the inauguration of the LOT route, the start from August 27 had to be postponed.
September 17 has now been set for the opening of the once-weekly LOT flight with a Boeing 737 from Warsaw to Basra via Beirut.
Another of the first batch of airlines granted rights to open routes into Basra, SAS also had to postpone its route, planned to start from August 29 operating a Boeing 767-300 aircraft.
According to SAS, no date has currently been set for the first flight on the direct, nonstop route.
