SEP 12, 2003 (newstodate): From October 1, Lufthansa Cargo will up the rates for its Cool/td shipments.
In a statement the company says significant price enhancements in container rentals charged by the supplier is driving the rates hike, but so far no percentage has been announced.
On the positive side, Lufthansa Cargo is retrofitting its entire fleet of MD-11F aircraft to accommodate precise temperature control of the lower-deck compartments.
Lufthansa Cargo is also tripling the size of its temperature-regulated storage areas at Chicago International Airport, which serves as a central transfer center for temperature-sensitive goods in the USA.
