SEP 18, 2003 (newstodate): The Lufthansa Supervisory Board has decided to sell all its remaining eight Boeing 747-200 freighters.
Three freighters are being sold to Air Atlanta Icelandic and will be re-chartered by Lufthansa Cargo according to market demands.
As part of the restructuring plan, Lufthansa Cargo will also take in a further five second-hand MD-11 freighters.
The Boeing 747-200s are to be sold in the course of next year. The used MD-11 passenger aircraft will be converted into freighters prior to their integration in Lufthansa Cargo's flight schedules from January 2005.
