SEP 18, 2003 (newstodate): Effective from September 1, AVICOM Japan has been able to provide air/ground communication by ikplementing the first two ground stations provided by ARINC.
Under the contract, ARINC will provide a total of 10 VDL Mode 2 stations to allow VDL-equipped aircraft with an efficient communications channel when flying through some of Japans' most congested airspace.
In addition to enhancing air/ground communications, the VDL Mode 2 technology will also be used to upgrade the Japanese ATC services
