SEP 25, 2003 (newstodate): A group of Asia-Pacific airlines have today launched their new internet cargo portal, Ezycargo.
Behind the new portal stand Cathay Pacific Cargo, Singapore Airlines Cargo, Japan Airlines Cargo, and Qantas Freight.
Cargo community systems CCN and Traxon Hong Kong have developed the portal that from the outset will be provide access by forwarders to four founding carriers.
In its first edition, Ezycargo will allow free-sale bookings and allotments, track&trace, and display of the participating airlines' flight schedules. More facilities will be added along the road.
Hong Kong is the first area to go live, followed by Singapore in October, Australia in November, and Japan in December.
The four founders say more airlines are "soon" to join the portal.
The new portal does not see itself in a competition with GF-X, but it has been understood that the rate structure for joining Ezycargo will be considerably less prohibitive than that of GF-X.
