SEP 11, 2003 (newstodate): Cargolux is "surprised" to learn of the uncertainty raised around off-airport ground handling in Denmark.
-The issue is new for us, but as Cargolux is firmly dedicated to doing business in line with directives and regulations we will now make a thorough assesment of the situation and the questions raised, says Henrik Ambak, Cargolux VP cargo handling.
-We do work with off-airport regulated cargo handling agents in many European countries, as well as in the USA, so I am surprised to learn of this discussion in Denmark, says Ambak.
According to Ambak, Cargolux will now consult the civil aviation authories in Luxembourg and other institutions to verify the EU position on the issue.
In Denmark, Cargolux shipments, sold and marketed by its cargo GSA, WECO AirCargo, are handled by off-airport service provider Haugsted that started in the road feeder business, and in May 2001 etablished its off-airport cargo handling business in the Copenhagen area.
