SEP 18, 2003 (newstodate): Under the deal, signed only last week, with Lufthansa Cargo, Air Atlanta Icelandic will take three Boeing 747-200 freighter, and put them at the service of Lufthansa Cargo from next year.
-We have signed an ACMI lease contract for a period of three years with Lufthansa Cargo, and the first aircraft will be available by June, 2004, with the remaining two aircraft following with two or three weeks' interval so that all three aircraft will be in Lufthansa Cargo's service by July, 2004, says Hafthor Hafsteinsson, Air Atlanta Iceland CEO.
The contract holds provisions for extension for one or more aircraft by six months to two years.
According to Mr Hafsteinsson, Air Atlanta may consider taking over the remaining five Boeing 747-200 freighters as well, if warranted by the market.
