AUG 29, 2003 (newstodate): 200 aviation-related companies including the dominating air cargo airline Cargolux, have joined in a new association, Findel ASBL, set up to air the industry's united views on the future of Luxembourg's Findel airport.
Further development of the airport's competitiveness requires efforts to modernize the airports facilities while at the same time avoiding undue nuisances to surrounding communities, the association says.
Already years ago the lack of a masterplan for Luxembourg Findel Airport's development was seen as a challenge to the industry.
At the local level, the airport is the fourth most important employer of the Grand-Duchy. 4000 jobs are directly connected to air transport, and several thousand more indirectly linked to the airport.
