AUG 05, 2003 (newstodate): In July, KLM Cargo saw total traffic and capacity up by five percent, keeping load factors stable around 70.9 percent.
On the airline's Trans-pacific routes, traffic was up by eight percent, while capacity grew by nine percent, causing lad factors to fall by 0.7 ppt to 83.5 percent.
The reason for this development was a turn from pure pax to combi aircraft, and the introduction of two Boeing 747-400ER to replace two Boeing 747-300F aircraft on the Asian freighter route network.
On the North Atlantic routes, traffic growth at three percent was overtaken by a capacity growth at six percent causing the load factor to drop by 2.5 ppt to 68.5 percent.
KLM Cargo atributes this to a swap of aircraft types during the month, and the effects from shift in capacity in the joint venture with Nortwest Airlines.
