AUG 18, 2003 (newstodate): The building of the news internaitonal airport at Almaty continues now in its third year.
The project for buildling a new terminal to replace the one that burnt down in July 1999 is now reported to be 90 percent finished, and the first passengers are planned to pass through the new terminal by the end of the year.
But the project has been delayed several times, and estimated costs have risen from initially USS 24 million to currently abount 52 million.
