JUL 15, 2003 (newstodate): SAS Cargo has landed a contract with Volvo Logistics for transport of automotive spare parts between Sweden and Japan.
The two years-contract comprises shipments on the tri-partite MD-11 freighter route from Gothenburg to Osaka, Japan, operated by Lufthansa Cargo, Japan Airlines Cargo, and SAS Cargo.
Volvo Logistics supports business areas in the Volvo Group, Volvo Car and within the Ford Group. Today, approximately 15 percent of Volvo Logistics transports are transported as airfreight.
For the past 10 years, SAS Cargo has been dedicated carrier for all Volvo airfreight from USA.
For SAS Cargo the new contract entails an increase by almost 70 percent of the total tonnage of Volvo products to and from Japan.
