JUL 16, 2003 (newstodate): After reaching a succesful understanding with its pilot unions, SWISS will abandon plans to set up its SWISS Express subsidiary.
SWISS has also agreed to make a one-off payment to SPA pilots who lose their jobs, and the three charter planes will revert back to the
ex-Crossair pilots' corps.
On their side, the pilot unions have announced that they will not insist on the "zipper solution" defined by the recent arbitration court, withdraw all pending legal action, and accept 559 redundancies amongst its pilots.
SWISS wil now focus on reaching a solution with the cabin attendants' union, and with the ground staff unions.
