JUL 17, 2003 (newstodate): Lufthansa Cargo is now operating two freighters into Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport.
The company further fills the belly capacity of the five daily flights between Moscow and Frankfurt, and the daily flight between Moscow and Munich.
-Moscow's cargo market is mainly driven by import air cargo, constituting some 80 percent, says Carsten Hernig, Lufthansa Cargo.
-As to Russian exports, Moscow is still the single largest market, but many shipments are in fact generated by other Russian regions, he says.
To cater to this market, Lufthansa Cargo has set up an extensive road feeder service, recently updated to time definite-standards in the case of the major Russian destinations.
According to Mr Hernig, this makes Lufthansa Cargo claim to be the only carrier in Russia to provide these services also beyond Moscow.
