JUL 25, 2003 (newstodate): On July 16, the new ATC centre in Manas, Kyrgyzstan, supplied by Thales Air Traffic Management, was inaugurated.
This system enables the civil aviation authority "Kyrgyzaeronavigatsia" to operate the most recent generation, and to modernise the Kyrgyzstan's ATC servicing of the international airways between Northern Europe, Middle East and South-East Asia, including China.
Thales ATM had been involved in all phases of Kyrgyzstan ATM modernisation programme, providing an approach and en-route control centre system in Osh, an approach radar associated with a monopulse secondary radar, and a VOR/DME ground navigation system for Manas/Bishkek.
