JUL 16, 2003 (newstodate): Since June 30, Aeroflot operates four daily Tupolev Tu154M round trips between Moscow and Kaliningrad, offering passenger rates close to rail transportation.
The decision to increase frequency and cut rates reflects the airline's "social responsibility", Aeroflot says in a statement.
From July 1, Lithuania has imposed visa restrictions on transit travel between Russia and its Baltic enclave, Kaliningrad, thus making it difficult to travel from Kaliningrad to other regions of Russia by overland means of transport.
According to Aeroflot, the airline carries about one thousand passengers per day on the route.
