JUN 27, 2003 (newstodate): The Finnish Civil Aviation Administration has contracted Thales Air Traffic Management (ATM) to supply four secondary surveillance radars with an option for additional radars.
The four radars, which will be installed in Helsinki, Kuopio, Jyvaskyla and Tampere, will contribute to the development of the Finnish airport network and air navigation services. A remote control and monitoring system (RCMS) is also provided to integrate the new radars. The programme will be completed in August 2005.
Thales ATM is currently working on the fully integrated FATMI programme (Finnish Air Traffic Management Integration system) to upgrade Finland's ATM system with the update of three main control centres:Tampere, Helsinki, Rovaniemi, and the installation of 23 small centres connected to the two main centres.
