JUN 11, 2003 (newstodate): SWISS is eager to be admitted to a global airline alliance, but sees little prospects for the time being.
-The crisis situation worldwide is giving rise to uncertainty and activity in the various airline alliances. The individual members are all so preoccupied with finding solutions to their own problems that no new members are being taken on the for time being, says SWISS in an in-house publication.
-SWISS, however, already has bi-lateral agreements with airlines including Finnair, Iberia, Aer Lingus, American Airlines, Cathay Pacific, JAL and Qantas which result in an annual inflow of some 80 million Swiss francs.
-This covers the majority of benefits that full membership of one of the alliances might bring, the airline concludes.
