JUN 19, 2003 (newstodate): After a long period of sustained progress, Oslo Airport is seeing it cargo volumes in May down by two percent, to 4,252 tonnes.
Still, international air cargo is up four percent, to 3,371 tonnes, while comestic cargo is down by 19 percent to 881 tonnes.
Of the international cargo, imports were up eight percent, while exports remained unchanged, all compared to same month last year.
For the period January-May, Oslo's cargo volumes totalled 20,874 tonnes, up eight percent on last year. During the period, international exports were up 24 percent, while imports were up 17 percent.
Norway's main export article remains exports of fresh salmon to the Japanese and Far Eastern markets, primarily taken on a scheduled charter operation by Aeroflot from Oslo to Osaka on a DC-10 freighter.
