JUN 23, 2003 (newstodate): From October 3, a new Thai airline BlueskyAirline, now under registration, plans to start operating a route between Bangkok and Billund Airport.
-Initially, the twice-weekly route will be operated with a Boeing 747 leased from a Thai company, but the airline plans to introduce own Airbus A340 capacity as from February next year, says M M Christensen, BlueskyAirline managing director.
According to Mr Christensen, BlueskyAirline will fly tourists from the Nordic countries, UK, Austria, Switzerland and Germany to and from tourist destinations Bangkok and Phuket, while one of the weekly departures will be extended to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, as well.
Besides serving tourists for the owner company, BlueskyHoliday Co Ltm, the new airline will also attract other tour operators to fill up the low-cost service.
-The new route is designed to provide an alternative to Copenhagen Airport, enhancing service to travellers in west Denmark and, not least, Northern Germany for which Billund Airport is ideally located, says Mr Christensen.
