JUN 17, 2003 (newstodate): Hungarian carrier Malev is seeing a strong development in the Swedish airfreight market.
Malev currently operates a daily Boeing 737 flight at Stockholm, with high cargo loads.
-During the period Nov 1, 2001, to May 31, 2002, Malev carried only 27 tons out of Stockholm. But from Nov 1, 2002 to May 31, 2003, Malev carried 65 tons, says Daniel Brolin, ScanPartners, Malev Cargo's GSA in Sweden.
-As Sweden's export airfreight volumes to Hungary have not increased Malev has obviously been able to gain in market share, probably reflecting the market's demand for direct, non-stop flights rather than a combined truck/flight service as offered by our competitors, says Mr Brolin.
Up to 90 percent of Malev's ex-Sweden shipments for Hungary are destined for Budapest.
