JUN 04, 2003 (newstodate): In May, KLM Cargo upped its cargo volumes by eight percent, compared to last year.
During the same month, capacity increased by only five percent, leading to an improved cargo load factor, up 2.3 ppt to 71.9 percent.
On the Asian Pacific routes, the load factor improved by 3.1 ppt to 82.7 percent. Traffic
increased by 15 percent on a 10 percent capacity increase. The increase in capacity is the result of the introduction of the two new freighters and the full deployment of the 747-400 combi fleet on this route area.
On the North Atlantic routes traffic increased by 9 percent while capacity increased by 3 percent. Thus the load factor improved by 4.1 ppt to 73.5 percent.
