JUN 10, 2003 (newstodate): From 10 a.m. today, labour actions by members of the Finninsh Aviation Union will hit commercial aviation in Finland.
-As matters stand now, there will be no domestic operations, while we will strive to maintain Finnair's traffic on the core European routes, and hopefully the intercontinental long-haul routes later today, says a Finnair press spokeswoman.
The labour actions comprise staff in the ground handling, technical and catering departments of the airline, while it is yet unclear if staff at Finnair Cargo will take part as well, she says.
According to the spokeswoman Finnair's top-management is currently in session to evaluate the situation which comes in reponse to the airline's plans for massive lay-offs in the wake of the current market situation.
