JUN 12, 2003 (newstodate): Effective from June 16, Estonian Air will implement full screening of all cargo shipments at Tallinn Airport Cargo Center.
The screening has been contracted to AS Falck Estonia.
Estonia's air cargo import shipments are screened already in the transit terminals, for example in Frankfurt or Stockholm, except for the shipments originating from the U.S.A., which are screened already at the departure stations.
The most distant Estonian Air cargo destinations are New York and Detroit in
the U.S.A. and Beijing in Asia. Much cargo and mail is also carried to Estonian Air scheduled network destinations.
So far, the single largest shipment in 2003 was a 2.2 ton shipment to Moscow. Monthly cargo
volume on the Tallinn-Moscow route is 12 tons.
On the Tallinn-Vilnius route, Estonian Air carries 5.6 tons of cargo in a month, 60% of which is transit cargo to Vilnius.
