JUN 10, 2003 (newstodate): Danish provider, GP&C Global Support, has landed a contract with Peru's Air Traffic Service to implement an ADS-B system.
The ADS-B system is based on VDL mode 4 data link technology and includes a number of airborne data link units, Cockpit Display of Traffic Indicator for improved situation awareness and a ground base station. The system was integrated into their calibration aircraft and in the airport of Lima.
The VDL mode4 system is a fourth generation data link developed and manufactured by GP&C Global Support that started development of this type of data link back in 1990, including a family of data links for maritime applications called the AIS data link.
