MAY 11, 2003 (newstodate): Gothenburg Airport reports a six percent decrease in cargo volumes, January-March.
In March, total volume of air cargo through the airport was 4,883 tonnes, up one percent. Export, however, fell six percent to 2,355 tonnes, while imports were up nine percent, to 2.528 tonnes.
-The tri-partite freighter to Osaka reduced frequency to three weekly departures against the five departures normally operated, and this has a strong impact on our volumes, says Bjorn Lennartz, Gothenburg airport route development.
-Volumes on the SAS Cargo freighter to Hong Kong are also affected by strong competition from Martinair and from volumes trucked rather then flown out of Gothenburg, says Lennartz.
