MAY 22, 2003 (newstodate): Leipzig Airport-owned subsidiary EasternAirCargo has established a number of airfreight delivery points in European hubs.
The news delivery points include Milan, Amsterdam, Paris and London and are designed to provide airfreight capacity between Europe and the CIS region using Leipzig Airport as a freight hub.
The airport offers scheduled freighter connections to Moscow Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo aports and to Minsk, Kiev, and Tblisi.
Operations are based on chartered capacity on AN-12 aircraft by Silkway and Atran airlines.
In 2002, the airport aggregated a total of 10,000 tonnes of air cargo and plans a 50 percent increase this year through the new routes to Kiev and Tblisi.
